Product Description

In an electrostatic precipitator, the collecting electrode (also known as the collecting plate or precipitation electrode) is the grounded surface onto which electrically charged dust particles migrate and accumulate. It works in tandem with the high-voltage discharge electrode: the discharge electrode charges the dust particles, and the collecting electrode provides the surface for their capture.

Collecting electrodes are arranged as parallel vertical plates forming gas flow channels. Discharge electrodes are suspended between each pair of plates, creating the electric field that drives charged particles toward the plate surfaces. Once a sufficient dust layer has built up on the plates, mechanical rappers strike the electrode support system, sending a vibration through the plates that dislodges the accumulated dust, which falls into collection hoppers below.

The design of the collecting plate profile directly influences ESP performance: the plate shape affects gas flow distribution, the electric field between plate and discharge electrode, the effectiveness of dust dislodgement during rapping, and the overall collection efficiency. LIMING offers three standard plate profiles, each optimized for different applications and dust characteristics.

C-Type Plate Corrugated Plate Flat Plate Dust Collection

Collecting Electrode Types

Type Profile Description Key Advantages Best Application
C-Type (CS Profile) Plate formed with a C-shaped channel at each edge and stiffening ribs. The edge channels create a shielded zone that prevents dust re-entrainment into the gas stream. Excellent dust retention during rapping; reduced re-entrainment; high rigidity; most widely used in cement ESPs All cement plant ESP applications — kiln/raw mill, clinker cooler, coal mill, cement mill
Corrugated (OPZEL/Z Profile) Plate with continuous corrugations (z-shaped folds) running vertically. The corrugations increase effective collection area and provide stiffness. Higher collection area per plate; good gas flow guidance; self-stiffening High-efficiency ESPs, large gas volumes, retrofit of older ESPs for higher collection efficiency
Flat Plate Simple flat steel sheet with stiffening profiles attached. Simplest design with lowest manufacturing cost. Lowest cost; simple replacement; easy handling Non-critical applications, small ESPs, budget-constrained projects

Materials

The base material for most cement plant ESP collecting electrodes is cold-rolled carbon steel sheet. Material selection considerations include:

Plate Thickness & Size

Standard collecting plate thickness is 1.2-1.5 mm for carbon steel, providing an optimal balance of weight, cost, and rapping response. Plates are typically supplied in lengths of 8-15 meters with heights matching the ESP field height (commonly 8-15 meters). Individual plates are joined at the site to form continuous electrode curtains spanning the full ESP field length.

Why Choose LIMING for ESP Collecting Electrodes?

Precision-formed collecting plates for maximum dust collection efficiency and reliable rapping.

📐

Optimized C-Profile

Our C-type plates feature a proven edge-channel design that minimizes dust re-entrainment — the single biggest cause of ESP efficiency loss.

Precision Roll Forming

Cold roll-formed on automated lines for consistent profile, flatness (±2 mm/m), and dimensional accuracy across the entire plate.

🔧

Effective Rapping Response

Plate profiles and stiffener patterns engineered for optimal vibration transmission — uniform dust dislodgement without excessive rapping force.
