Raw Meal Balling Equipment
A pan granulator that forms uniform green balls (5-20mm) from cement raw meal for shaft-kiln feeding. Adjustable disc tilt and speed enable precise ball-size control. Custom disc diameters with capacities up to 100 tph — essential equipment for vertical-kiln cement plants.
Product Overview
The disc pelletizer — also called a pan granulator or balling disc — is the equipment that forms finely ground cement raw meal into small, uniform spherical green balls (5-20mm diameter). These balls are the feedstock for shaft kilns (vertical kilns) in cement production. The pelletizing step is essential for shaft-kiln operation because fine raw meal powder alone would block gas flow through the kiln bed; pelletized feed ensures the permeability and uniform combustion required for efficient clinker calcination.
The disc pelletizer consists of an inclined rotating disc (pan), a feed system, a water-spray system, and a scraper mechanism. As the disc rotates, raw meal is fed onto the pan while water is sprayed. The combination of rotation, tilt, and moisture causes the raw meal particles to nucleate, grow, and compact into spherical balls. Larger balls naturally roll to the disc edge and discharge over the rim, while smaller particles remain and continue growing — a self-classifying action that produces uniform ball size.
LIMING disc pelletizers are engineered for shaft-kiln cement plants and other applications requiring granular feed from fine powder. The disc diameter, tilt angle, and rotational speed are all adjustable to optimize ball size, strength, and moisture for your specific raw meal composition and kiln requirements. Robust construction with hardened rim and scraper ensures long service life and consistent performance.
Key Benefits
Designed for uniform ball formation, reliable operation, and easy size control in shaft-kiln cement plants.
The self-classifying disc action naturally separates balls by size — only sufficiently grown balls roll over the rim. This produces narrow size distribution (typically 5-15mm) ideal for uniform kiln burning.
Disc tilt angle (40-55°) and rotational speed are steplessly adjustable, allowing operators to control ball size and production rate to match kiln feed requirements — without changing equipment.
The rolling compaction action produces dense, strong green balls with good drop strength and abrasion resistance — minimizing breakage during conveyance and kiln charging.
Few moving parts, robust geared motor drive, and hardened scraper blade ensure low-maintenance, continuous operation. Quick liner and scraper replacement minimizes downtime.

How It Works
The disc pelletizer forms balls through a growth-agglomeration process. Raw meal powder, water, and the rotating disc's rolling action combine to nucleate, grow, and compact spherical green balls via capillary forces and mechanical rolling.
