Product Overview

About the Pallet Wrapping Machine

The pallet wrapping machine — also known as a stretch wrapper or pallet stretch wrapper — is the final piece of equipment in the cement packaging line. After cement bags are filled, sealed, and stacked on pallets, the wrapping machine applies stretch film around the entire pallet load. This secures the bags in place, prevents shifting during forklift handling and truck transport, and creates a moisture barrier that protects the cement from humidity, rain, and condensation during storage and shipping.

Cement is highly hygroscopic — exposure to moisture causes premature hydration and clumping, degrading product quality. For cement shipped in 50kg bags on pallets, stretch film wrapping is essential. It keeps the bags tightly grouped, prevents individual bags from tearing or falling off the pallet, and maintains the integrity of the cement during long-distance transport, outdoor storage at construction sites, and export shipping in containers.

LIMING pallet wrapping machines feature a turntable design with stepless speed adjustment (0-12 rpm), a motorized film carriage with adjustable tension and overlap, and a PLC control system for programmable wrapping cycles. Operators can set the number of reinforcement wraps at the top and bottom of the pallet, film tension, and turntable speed — optimizing wrap quality and film consumption for each pallet type and load height.

Key Benefits

Advantages of LIMING Pallet Wrapping Machine

Designed for secure load wrapping, moisture protection, and efficient automated operation.

🔒

Secure Load Stability

Stretch film tightly binds cement bags to the pallet, preventing shifting, toppling, or bag loss during forklift handling, truck loading, and transport. Programmable top and bottom reinforcement wraps provide extra stability at high-stress points.

💧

Moisture Protection

Multiple layers of LLDPE stretch film create a barrier against humidity, rain, and condensation. This is critical for cement — a hygroscopic material that degrades when exposed to moisture. Wrapped pallets can be stored outdoors temporarily without quality loss.

Adjustable & Programmable

Turntable speed (0-12 rpm), film tension, wrap overlap, and the number of top/bottom reinforcement layers are all adjustable via PLC. Different wrapping programs can be saved for different pallet sizes and load heights — ensuring optimal wrapping for every product.

💰

Film Saving & Efficiency

Pre-stretch film carriage stretches the film by up to 300% before application — dramatically reducing film consumption while maintaining load-holding force. Automated wrapping at 20-40 trays/hour replaces manual wrapping, saving labor and ensuring consistent wrap quality.

How It Works

Working Principle of Pallet Wrapping Machine

The pallet wrapping machine uses a rotating turntable combined with a vertically moving film carriage to apply stretch film around a palletized load. The turntable spins the pallet while the film carriage travels up and down, wrapping the load in a helical pattern.

  1. Load placement: A forklift or automated pallet conveyor places the palletized cement bags onto the machine's turntable. The load is centered on the turntable to ensure balanced rotation. A photoelectric sensor detects the load height and signals the film carriage.
  2. Film attachment: The operator or automated film clamp attaches the leading edge of the stretch film to the pallet base. In automatic models, the film is automatically fed and clamped to the load.
  3. Bottom wrapping: The turntable begins rotating at the set speed (0-12 rpm) while the film carriage stays at the bottom position. The programmed number of bottom reinforcement wraps is applied — typically 2-3 layers — to anchor the load securely to the pallet.
  4. Upward wrap: The film carriage ascends the mast at a controlled speed while the turntable continues rotating. The pre-stretch mechanism stretches the film (up to 300%) before application, maximizing film yield and load-holding force. Film overlap is adjustable (typically 20-50%).
  5. Top wrapping: At the top of the load, the film carriage stops and applies the programmed number of top reinforcement wraps — typically 2-3 layers — to secure the top of the load and prevent bag toppling.
  6. Downward wrap (optional): For maximum security, the film carriage descends while wrapping, applying a second film layer in the reverse direction. This cross-wrapping pattern provides superior load stability for tall or unstable loads.
  7. Film cut & seal: Upon completion, the turntable stops. In automatic models, a film cutting and wiping mechanism cuts the film and wipes the tail against the load. In semi-automatic models, the operator manually cuts and tucks the film.
  8. Load removal: The forklift or conveyor removes the wrapped pallet. The machine resets and is ready for the next pallet — achieving a cycle efficiency of 20-40 trays per hour.

Pallet Wrapping Machine FAQ

What is a pallet wrapping machine used for in a cement plant?
A pallet wrapping machine wraps palletized cement bags with stretch film to secure the load, prevent bags from shifting during transport, and protect the cement from moisture and humidity. After cement bags are stacked on pallets at the packing line, the wrapping machine applies one or more layers of stretch film around the entire pallet load — ensuring stability for forklift handling, truck loading, and outdoor storage.
How does a turntable pallet wrapper work?
The palletized cement bags are placed on the machine's rotating turntable. As the turntable spins at an adjustable speed (0-12 rpm), a film carriage moves vertically along a mast, dispensing stretch film around the pallet load. The combination of turntable rotation and vertical film movement wraps the entire load from bottom to top. Operators can set the number of wrap layers at top and bottom for extra reinforcement.
What type of stretch film is used for cement bag wrapping?
LLDPE (linear low-density polyethylene) stretch film is the standard choice. Typical film width is 500mm with thickness of 17-25 microns. For cement bags stored outdoors or transported over long distances, a thicker 23-25 micron film is recommended for superior puncture resistance and moisture protection. Pre-stretched film can also be used to reduce material consumption.
How many pallets can the machine wrap per hour?
LIMING pallet wrapping machines achieve an efficiency of 20-40 trays per hour depending on the wrapping program (number of top and bottom reinforcement layers), turntable speed setting, and pallet load height. Higher turntable speeds and fewer reinforcement layers increase throughput, while more wrap layers provide greater load stability for longer transport distances.
