Product Overview
The cone crusher is a secondary and tertiary crushing machine that reduces material by compressive force between a mantle (moving) and a concave liner (fixed) inside a cone-shaped crushing chamber. As the mantle gyrates around the main shaft, material is continuously compressed and fractured until it is small enough to pass through the discharge opening.
In cement plants, cone crushers typically follow the primary jaw crusher in the crushing circuit, further reducing limestone, granite, basalt, quartzite, and river gravel to the size required by the raw mill. Their ability to produce uniform, cubical product with low flakiness makes them indispensable for high-quality aggregate and cement raw material preparation. Compared to impact and hammer crushers, cone crushers consume less energy per ton when crushing hard and abrasive materials, and their wear parts last significantly longer — making them the economical choice for high-tonnage, continuous-duty operations.
Classification
Cone crushers are classified by chamber profile (for different crushing stages) and by the overload-protection mechanism.
Wide feed opening, short parallel zone. For primary/secondary crushing of larger feed up to 350mm. Produces coarser product.
Balanced chamber for general secondary crushing. Middle ground between standard and short head for medium feed and product size.
Steeper chamber, longer parallel zone for tertiary crushing and sand making. Produces fine, uniform product down to 3-13mm.
Classic design using a spring release system for overload protection and tramp-iron pass-through. Simple, robust, and cost-effective — ideal for budget-conscious operations.

How It Works
The cone crusher reduces material by compressive and bending forces between a gyrating mantle and a fixed concave liner. The drive system causes the mantle to gyrate eccentrically, continuously compressing material that enters the crushing chamber from the top.
