Impact Crushing Equipment
A high-ratio impact crusher that breaks brittle materials with high-speed rotating hammers. Ideal for limestone, gypsum, coal, and slag — achieving crushing ratios up to 20:1 in a single stage. Available in single and double rotor designs with capacities from 5 to 3,000 t/h.
Product Overview
The hammer crusher is an impact-type crushing machine that reduces material by the high-speed impact of rotating hammers. A rotor fitted with hammers spins at 500-1,000 rpm inside a casing lined with impact plates. Material fed into the top is struck by the hammers, thrown against the impact plates, and further fractured — the combination of impact, shear, and collision rapidly reduces even large feed to the desired size in a single pass.
In cement plants, the hammer crusher is a popular choice for primary crushing of limestone — particularly when the limestone is moderately hard and the plant layout favors a simplified single-stage crushing circuit. It is also widely used for crushing coal, gypsum, chalk, and slag in power stations, building-material plants, and metallurgical facilities. The ability to achieve a high crushing ratio in one stage reduces capital cost, building height, and the number of transfer points.
LIMING hammer crushers feature robust rotors, high-chromium or forged-steel hammers, and wear-resistant liners. The discharge grate (grid) controls final product size — material remains in the crushing chamber until small enough to pass through the grate openings.
Classification
Hammer crushers are classified by the number of rotors and by the rotor configuration.
One rotating rotor with hammers. The most common type for medium-capacity cement plants. Material is fed from the top and crushed by impact against hammers and impact plates. Simple structure, easy maintenance, economical. Available in reversible and non-reversible designs.
Two counter-rotating rotors operating in parallel. Accepts larger feed size (up to 1,000mm+), achieves higher throughput, and performs two-stage crushing in a single machine. Ideal for large-capacity cement plants processing run-of-quarry limestone directly to mill feed size.
Key Benefits
Built for high-throughput, low-cost crushing of brittle materials in cement and power industries.
Achieves crushing ratios of 10:1 to 20:1 in a single stage — reducing large limestone boulders directly to mill-ready size and eliminating the need for a secondary crusher.
Fewer moving parts than jaw and cone circuits. Compact footprint reduces plant height, building cost, and installation time — ideal for brownfield retrofits.
Discharge grate bar openings precisely control final product size. Material stays in the chamber until small enough to pass — ensuring consistent gradation for the raw mill.
Hammers are mounted on the rotor with quick-release pins for fast replacement. Reversible designs use both edges before discarding, halving wear-part cost and downtime.

How It Works
The hammer crusher reduces material primarily by high-speed impact. The motor drives the rotor to spin at high speed; hammers mounted on the rotor strike the feed material, throwing it against impact plates and the casing wall. Here is the step-by-step process:
