Grinding: The Most Power-Intensive Stage

Grinding is the most energy-consuming process in cement production, accounting for 60–70% of total plant electricity consumption. The cement mill grinds clinker, gypsum, and additives to the desired fineness to produce finished cement, while the coal mill prepares pulverized coal for kiln fuel. The choice of mill technology directly impacts energy efficiency, product quality, and overall plant economics.

LIMING Machinery manufactures four types of grinding mills to suit every cement production scenario. Cement ball mills remain the industry standard for their reliability and versatility, handling capacities from 0.65 to 615 t/h. Vertical roller mills offer 30–50% lower energy consumption by combining grinding, drying, and classification in one unit. Raymond mills provide economical fine grinding for smaller operations and additive preparation. Coal mills are specifically designed for safe, efficient pulverization of coal for kiln burners, with built-in drying and explosion protection.
